You are completely right. I should have also asked this question to birth mothers and not just adoptees.
My bmom recently did a 'drive-by' into my life and I really wasn't surprised that she didn't remember my birthday. Someone else mentioned that it was odd that she didn't.
(She was well-past her teen years when I was born.)
