WOW!! Congratulations! That is an exciting turn of events. Looking forward to updates.

PS Ignore sis. When you speak with her again in six months (ok, you should talk to her sooner, I suppose) you can just happily repeat things such as, 'Alex is a joy to have in our home', or 'We are tickled pink to have Alex as part of our family', to every negative comment she has. If she's quoting Dr. Phil she doesn't have enough to occupy her time.

Dr. Phil is a pet peeve of mine, especially since 'thoughtful' people have suggested that we take his parenting advice for our kids. (Hello?! The guy is on daytime TV, people!) It doesn't matter that our kids have special needs and developmental delays. Dr. Phil can take care of it all - long-distance, no less! - and without ever having to meet them.

I expected that there would be times like this - but I never thought they'd be so bad, so long, and so frequent.

Pressure can turn a lump of coal into a flawless diamond, or an average person into a perfect basket case.

I used to have a handle on life, but it fell off.
