Boy have we been there. DD has been through the wringer as far as testing for delays goes. We've done motor, we've done speech, we've done hearing, we've done eyesight. You name it, they've tested it.
And that was when she wasn't even 12 months yet.
The bottom line is, whatever you think your little one needs, push for it. And keep pushing.
DD is more motor than speech delayed at this point. She currently has maybe three words. She says hi and hello, we're also pretty sure she says "dad" and means it. Of course sometimes she says it to the dog, so obviously she doesn't mean it all the time. I hope.
And just last night I was asking her if she wanted me to sing her Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and she looked at me and said, "tinkle tinkle?"
And that's pretty much the extent of her vocabulary. So speech therapy may be in her future, but right now we're OK with where she is and so are the doctors.
