We just had our son seen by Early Intervention last week, and I'm really glad we did. My daughter I never had checked out, and I wanted to but our pediatricians kept telling me she was fine. Well, my gut feeling was right and at 3.5 years old, she was diagnosed on the spectrum. I AM NOT SAYING YOUR SON is on the spectrum, BUT if I would have had her checked out, that is all the years she would have had therapies for on things that are really hurting her today (OT, speech, PT).
Fast forward to my son, we had him checked out thinking he was ok, but to make sure. He is now getting speech services, and they are watching him carefully for his OT skills.
I really urge anyone that thinks they *may* need services, to just call. That is all it takes, the paperwork is not that troublesome at all, and its one day for an hour of your time. It is worth it.
Good luck!
