Today the countrywide announcement went out searching for my son's birthmother. It gave her or a family member interested in taking custody of him 15 days to get in touch with our attorney. I am on pins and needles while we wait to find out if the last 11 months have been full of lies or if there are indeed blood relatives out there who want to raise him.

I know that whatever is meant to be will happen and I try to focus on my daughter who has been home for 5 months and is the absolute light of our lives, but it is so hard to believe that in 15 days we will know the truth and find out if we can continue with his adoption.

He is almost 18 months old. It is time for a forever family whether it is us or not. I pray that he will come through this, whatever the outcome, a happy, healthy, well-adjusted boy and I pray that his foster family, who have parented and loved him since he was 45 days old, will survive the trauma of loving an amazing child as if he were their own then having him taken from them.

So here we go, 15 days and counting.
