I come from a French-Irish background and I have darker skin tone (surprise!). My husband is Czech/Italian and light skinned/blue eyes. Our adopted son from Colombia has only been home a few weeks, but I'm actually surprised we haven't gotten any comments yet. My son and I look alike (same skin tones, eye color, eye shape) but he and his father don't look much alike. My husband still gets a kick out of it when he's out with DS alone and he gets "the looks"; he says they're just trying to figure out what "the mom" looks like.

Since DS is still a baby he doesn't notice it yet, but I'm sure he will once he's older and with only his dad.
I will say that we did not choose where we adopted from based on how well the child may "match" our skin tones, but I still love hearing about how he looks like me. After only a few months together we already have so many similar facial expressions and I LOVE the fact he has BOTH his biological and adoptive families' characteristics!
