WOW. If I would have been eligible for a scholarship because I was adopted, that would have been an amazing gift to my parents, who paid out of pocket for my college education - not one single loan. I was lucky, of course, to graduate [it will be past tense in like 12 hours...I have not technically graduated yet haha] without loans.
