I agree that the more natural, the better. I didn't do this when our three were itty-bits....but when our girls were itty-bits, I used Biosilk by Farouk. It's pricey, I agree.....but took such a tiny-and I mean---tiny amount once I spritzed the hair with warm water in the mornings.
It can be hard to find the 'natural' stuff...because even if the label states, 'natural'....it's still full of products that aren't, KWIM?
Still, the less of anything, the better...and I think the idea musemoon gave of the different oils, would be good as long as you only use such a tiny bit---and I suspect the smell is wonderful!!!!
(Too much oil, from anything, clogs the pores (as you probably already know.
) )
