I sat through my son getting inducted into national Junior honor society. It was nice, but the kids read the speaches like they were bored. (they were) Then I went and watched my daughter struggle at dance class. She is a very good dancer, however her surgery in December changed the angle at which her left knee bends. (she does not even have a real knee, but she is able to bend it) She also has two artificial legs and ankles that don't bend. She is 8 and in a class for kids 12 and up. Because the class is for older kids, it's later, and so she is tired. Recital is Friday, this was the last practice. Her dance teacher only finished choreographing her solo two weeks ago. I also discovered she has blown a whole in the liner for her two month old prosthetic legs and has been walking on metal. I replaced the liner. (they always give us two since they usually only last us five or six months) She actually had two gel liners this time, one very thick. It scares me to think how much pressure it took to make that hole. Oh and did I mention she is a perfectionist? She ended up in tears, but her dance teacher was wonderful. She talked to her and calmed her down and got her to try one more time so she could end the night on a high note. So of course since I had one new honor society inducty and one child who worked so hard at dance I took them out for food after. Anyway, Friday night is dress rehearsal and set up for the stage crew. (me of course) May is just crazy for us, somewhere to be every day and every evening!
