My son is 6 1/2...For his 6th birthday, we were out with his firstmom, and I noticed a tatoo of a heart on her wrist with the initials inside of the name that she gave him, as opposed to the one we gave him (first and last initials are different, middle initial is the same).
It surprised me to see it, only because I'd never seen it before; but it absolutely did not bother me, at least not in an "angry" or "bothersome" sort of way.
In a strange way that I can't really describe, I felt a bit closer to her. I'm not a tattoo person (the whole fear of needles thing) but seeing that somehow softened my heart...go figure - the strangest things are endearing to me.
I wouldn't "worry" about their reaction. You have no ill intentions - so there's really no reason for them to be upset.
