A year ago last night, on the eve of mother's day, we landed in Oregon with Julian asleep in our arms.
For me, I have known I wanted to have an international family as long as I can remember knowing about adoption. My husband was a bit of a hard sell, but I was able to get him to come to an info session with me. We walked out the door and he looked at me with tears in his eyes and said "I get it, let's do this."
The process was so horrific, I had no idea what we were getting into. And no one can understand except for my friends and virtual friends who have gone through the same thing. So thank you all for all of your support. My heart aches for all of you that are waiting right now. I am thinking of all of you all the time and sending love and prayers.
So, today it is a year. I have been a mom for a year. Julian is talking, running, and he even is starting to do his business on the toilet (not with any consistency, but hey, at not quite 20 months, I'm calling this a remarkable start.)
A photo from the trip home, a photo from our first week (we were so in awe we didn't get any photos our first 3 days home!) and some photos from the last week. He is such an amazing boy...what a remarkable life we have.
