Last year I babysat an infant for a friend. It was her grand daughter, her daughter was incarcerated. Anyway, the baby is adorable and I am blond and so is she (and so is her mom).
Anyway, one day I was out shopping with the baby, trying to finish up before picking up the big kids. A lady started talking to me and she said something about the babies hair. She said, "now mom's got blond hair" (I was thinking yes she does) Then she asked me what color hair the father had, without thinking I said "I don't remember". (I had never met the man but had seen a photo of him once breifly, but didn't really pay attention since it was the first time I had seen a photo of the mom in the nine years since I had stopped being her youth director).
OK so I did not realize what the woman was thinking until I saw her face. She walked away fast. When I saw grandmother that evening I told her about it and we had a good laugh. She said I should have said it was dark and I couldn't see his hair. LOL. I do like an answer I once saw for people asking personal questions. Just look at them shocked as if the had asked about your bathroom habits and if that's not enough say that cannot beleive they are asking such a thing, or just in a shocked voice say: excuse me??
