Paige – Just when I thought nothing was going to pull be out of pre-mother’s day, feeling sorry for myself, lazy, funk today – I read this.
Sometimes a little anger is the best thing to get you up off the couch lol
This goes on more often than we think in this day and age. I about went crazy a few months ago when on a show called “High School Confidential” there was a 16 year old girl who was pregnant. Much of the show focused on her Mother's actions and reaction. It was the PERFECT example of what NOT to do. I blogged about it if you want to read:
Road To Reunion and Other Stuff: High School Confidential
Lord… I hope no actual parents of pg girls were out there taking notes….
Not to take anything away from Raven’s book (which I would read in a heartbeat) but someone needs to write a handbook for parents of pregnant teens. I am a bmom and when in that situation…. I was clueless. I handled it better than most but I still made mistakes (in retrospect). Try googling info as the parent of a pg teen…. Darn near nothing!!!! And much of the very little that is out there comes from agencies - or heaven help us... Dear Abby...
When I turned here for support and help I was jumped on a few times. I would have left but there was no where else to go… In the end, I’m glad I stayed (obviously) but if you ask me… Parents of pg teens are a seriously under educated and under counseled part of the triad (OK – not officially a member but you know what I mean when it comes to young teens).
What sex education is to teens, “what to do if your child gets pregnant” should be to parents… especially when nationally, the statistics are that about 1 in 25 teens give birth (not get pregnant… give birth…). Scary…
I think I need to go clean something now!! LOL
