Have you tried ordering your non-identifying information from the County where your adoption took place? After 26 years, this is how I found my son's name. I was told to request either a first name or a last whichever was less identifying. The key here is to REQUEST that info, not assume they will give it to you....

What I got was all first names, that of my son and both of his parents. It cost about $30 and took over 2 months but it paid off for me...

Edited to add: If your info is here, I assume this means someone is looking for you... I would also google adoption registries and check everyother database out there. You may pick up a few more bits of info... Aslo, have your registered with About ISRR Most say this is the place to start (why you are googling of course...)
