Angry "Non-moms" (ie. adoptive moms) unite to tell NBC what you think!

America's Favorite Mom does not consider us moms, ladies.

If you wanted to apply for the show, you would have to apply as a non-mom. Seriously. They have a separate category for those who have "taken on mom roles":

The non-mom mom
Grandparent, stepmom, or mom to adopted children, each one raising and loving a child. A priceless gift for everybody.

I guess I mistakenly took on the "role" a little too seriously, as I don't see it as a part I'm playing. This may be the most offensive slander toward adoptive parents I've ever heard!

I contacted Adoptive Families as a thumbs down on this. BUT please feel free to contact them as well. The more the merrier on this one!!!

Also contacted NBC through the following:

Here's my response:

As a non-mom, according to the categories of your contest, I’d like to send you a picture of my “non-kids”.

How truly offensive. How heart-breakingly, utterly, ridiculously offensive. Are you kidding me? Because I didn’t give birth to these children, I am a non-mom to them? I, who love them unconditionally every day. I, who am their mother in every legal, functional, and emotional sense am a non-mom to them because of a lack of a biological link? Sir or madam, it is me who nurses them back to health when they are sick. It is me who taught them to walk, talk, use a spoon, read, and love. It is me who holds them when they are frightened, who wakes up in the middle of the night with them. It is me who takes them to speech, physical therary, and OT. It is me who will be there for them when they are adults. It is me who doesn’t sleep at night worrying about their futures. It is me who goes to work every day to keep a roof over their heads and to provide them with what they need. It is me who helps them with homework, wipes away their tears, teaches them to share and ride a bike and tie their shoes and care for other people.

I may not have given birth to these children, but I would give my life for them in a heartbeat.

If that’s not a mom, I don’t know what is. Good luck finding a “real” mom who loves her kids the way I do.

Shame on you!
