Lightbulb

Condetti....you are amazing! I just recalled the fact that when my God Daughter, who was born in 2000, was adopted, the attorney handling the adoption did, in fact, put out public ads in the papers, notifying the birthfather of his "rights" should he wish to dispute the adoption! I remember my friend and her husband being on pins and needles thinking that perhaps the father would surface and enter some dispute! I had totally forgotten about this!!!!
I wonder if they did that even in the "old days" (1964 )???
Do they do that only if the birthmother lists a birthfather on the forms? I was told...although I have no idea if it's true...that no father was listed for me.
Just curious....always looking for a lightbulb moment!
My birthmom supposedly never told a soul who my father was....even tho she lived with her sister, whom she is very close to, during the time of her pregnancy and my birth. My aunt maintains to this day that she has no idea who my father is....and my birthmother refuses contact with me, so there's no chance she will ever come off the name. I still look for "stab in the dark" ways I might someday uncover who he is without her help.
Oh...and as a brief aside, my birth was not among those reported by the hospital I was born in....I got the list from the local paper and I wasn't there -- BUT, my birth announcement was in the section of the paper where people pay to put in an announcement, and it read just as if I were born to my adoptive parents! I felt really lousy about that for awhile....I felt like it was such a SHAM, even tho I love my parents dearly -- I was NOT "born" to them!
Hugs,
Sally
