Hi. I know that most of you here are looking for help to find your birthparents and I just wanted to post a little information regarding Georgia requirements on newspaper legal ads. My daughter(whom I hope will search for me one day) was born in Georgia at an Atlanta hospital in 1988. When she was born, a newspaper legal ad had to be placed(by law) in the local newspaper of the town where the birthfather was located(if known). This was to notify the birthfather of the birth and states if he has any rejections to relinguishing his rights, that he is required to show up in court on a certain date. It states the childs birthdate and birthmothers name and I am not sure about the hospital name. I am also not sure if the legal ad has to be placed in the town of where the hospital is located and do not know if this is mandatory anymore but it can be helpful for some people that are searching. I hope that one day my daughter will come looking for me and I am already registered with the Georgia Reunion Registry to make it as easy as possible for her.
