I tried this also after reading this thread. No luck. I live in VA. born in Norfolk. Adopted through Portsmouth Soc Services. In my area there is one paper that covers several cities. It was voluntary. I found only married couples that were proud to announce.... no unwed or unplanned parents..... which confirms my hunch that my bmother was young and unwed.
Seems like this would be a great idea for someone that wasn't given for adoption right away.
BTW... ISO any bfamily Baby girl Born 6-10-66. Adopted at 3 days old through Ports Soc Services
