medical evaluation of referral

I am waiting for a referral from Calcutta for an infant girl, and am wondering about who should see it before I decide to accept- a specialist in evaluating medical reports from orphanages, from India, or is a good GP adequate? Can anyone recommend such a specialist?- I am based in Western Massachusetts, but Boston area is accessible too, also NYC.
