Dear Christy,
The adoption subsidies vary by state, I think anyway. I can tell you what Washington State subsidies are if that will help you. The basic adoption subsidy is about 325.00 and has a special rate in addition to that for special needs or higher care children that would be around 150.00. So according to their needs EACH child will get anywhere from 325.00-475.00. There are additional subsidies if you have a greater qualifying expense. They also continue medical, child care if both parents are full-time employed, and future counseling. I am adopting two of my cousins children. I was getting TANF (which is welfare) and I was getting about 440.00 for both of them. Then I got my foster license because I wanted more children. I liked having little ones around again. To my surprise the payments increased to 366.00 for EACH child right away. Then they assesed them both to be higher needs children at a rate of 1080.00 per month for both children. Not only could I take care of them financially, my own children did not have to give up a thing. That was my main concern.
There are more financial benefits for taking care of foster children too. Our state offers a medical program and we only pay 20.00 a month for our medical insurance. Our tax return has increased dramatically. And much more so please don't worry about the financial aspect of it. I am sure your state offers similiar financial support. It might be to your benefit on 3 children. I wish you all the luck and please don't hesitate to ask me anything.
