I live in Virginia and was adopted in New York. I used old phone books, I found at the Library of Congress and tracked the family from the time I was born to the most recent address. Then I used a net detective program that listed several people with the same last name. I wrote them all letters asking if they were familiar with the family I was searching. My search paid off, I found my birthmother's brother.
