ATTENTION SEARCHERS! The adopting.org website offers a free search registry to those of you who are
hoping to reunite with a child, birthparent or birth relative.
To access it, scroll to the top of this Board and click on HOME. You will be launched to the adopting.org
HOME PAGE (be sure to put it in your BOOKMARK file). There you will find an Index running across the
page under the ADOPTING Logo. Click on FREE SEARCH REGISTRY, and choose the "Search for family,"
etc.) line that appears at top of the next screen.
That takes you to a SEARCH form. Enter the date of birth and either ALL or the STATE in which you were
born (keep in mind that sometimes the State is changed. Click SEARCH.
If you do not find a possible "match" go back and chose the REGISTER line and enter your information for
posting on the registry. This is a site that is continually growing in popularity, and there's always a very good
chance that the person(s) you're looking for will eventually find it, AND YOU.
Other on-line registries are listed at
http://www.reunionregistry.org/regist.htm
I believe that most of these are also free. Run a search and if no match, then post your info on as many Registries
as possible.
NOTE! ... NOTE! ... NOTE! ... NOTE! ... NOTE! One of the most important Registries, however, is NOT
on-line. It is the International Soundex Reunion Registry (ISRR), the oldest and largest Registry in the
world.ISRR does not charge for listing (although it can always put a donation to good use, since it is a volunteer
organization).
To Register (and run a Search) send a self-addressed, stamped envelope (business size) to ISRR, P.O. BOX
2312, CARSON CITY NEVADA 89702-2312, with a note asking for a Registration Form. Fill it in and return
it immediately -- and say a prayer!
Good Luck and HUGS, Carol Bird, adopting.org Experts Forums: Birthfamily Support Forum for older adoptions. (birthmom in reunion since 1986)
