From a Birth Mom

I am a mom, a birth mom, and recently became an adoptive mom. As an adoptive mom I can assure everyone that we love our adopted children every bit as much as we do our bio children. There's no difference what-so-ever. Even though my son was six YEARS old when we adopted him...we felt completely head over heels in love with him from the moment we laid eyes on him. I hope all adoptees know this and realize that their adoptive parents would go to the ends of the earth for them. As a birth mother, I want to say that not a single day has gone by since 11/11/1987 that I have not thought about my birth son. Not a single birthday has gone by that I haven't found a quiet place to sit and cry...even though I know he is in a wonderful home surrounded by an amazing and loving family...my heart aches every single day and I am looking forward to the day that he wants to know me....and I'm terrified that he won't want to. For all of you adoptees who are searching for your birth parents, good luck. You give me hope that my son will want to find me some day, too. I've done all that I can do to make sure he won't have to try very hard and I'm very lucky that his family has been open to contact with me off and on through the years to be sure they have my current address, telephone number, etc. Again, good luck.
