If you are anywhere near the KC metro area I would urge you to join MFCAA. They are a large foster/adopt support group that provide training, support, and services for families.
I adopted 4 boys through MO dfs when they were 8 & 9. MO has been a pretty good state to work with and does seem to have a lot of case workers who understand the issues abused children face.
