There are some reputable attorneys in NC that are able to do adoptions. They cannot however do the homestudy. That must be done through an agency (we went through Social Services). We found an attorney in our area (Hickory) that is licensed for adoptions. They work with birthmothers and Christian couples. They are very good and very reasonable. My husband and I were working with this attorney as well as Social Services with the hope that between the two we would find a child faster (we had already waited over two years). Within just a few months both my husband and I and some very dear friends both had new babies (one through the attorney, the other through social services).
