We decided on China and our agency because of the experience of a friend. My husband travelled to China with his friend last year (a single mom) to help her through the trip. She brought back a beautiful little girl.
My husband had a vasectomy during his first marriage (he has two children) so we decided adoption would be much better for us than trying to reverse his vasectomy.
I honestly didn't research any other agencies besides the one his friend went through just because they are local and seem to be very organized and helpful. We did look at information on other countries, but because of his experience having been to China and going through the process with his friend, we really knew that's what we wanted. Besides, I've always wanted a little girl and China is the perfect country because of their abundance of girls needing homes.
I have also heard too many stories about how difficult it is to adopt domestically. We already have a multicultural family (I have two hispanic-american nephews and my husband has two african-american nephews), so the nationality of our child is of no concern to us.
We apply for our adoption this December and we can't wait!!!
