Deciding on adoption

I researched the topic in depth - took me three months. I took the emotion out of it, and looked at it as if I were pregnant, the steps I would go through to have a healthy baby. Specifically, I looked for:

-Programs accepting of adoptive parents 40 and over
-The health of the babies
-Availability of babies
-Short timeframe
-One international trip, versus two
-Program in a democratic society, versus one that required you to take a wad of money with you - and not knowledge of where that money was going
-Talked to other adoptive parents
-Agency with proven track record

We decided on Guatemala. Money wasn't an issue, good thing since this program is one of the most expensive.

We are completely blessed and thrilled with our little daughter, who we've had for six months.
