I am a new single parent in a very conservative community. Ok at the moment I dont have any kids... but had one FS and am waiting for the call for more. I am a widow and people can not understand why I would want to burden myself with kids, plus I don't have any friends at this point who are single parents. I do have many friends who have what the they think is the perfect life LOL Responsible, reliable husband, house with white picket fence, and 2.5 kids, 2 vacations a yr... yadda yadda!!!
I am CC and my FS was AA.... I am 25, he was 8, I got some interesting looks!!! I loved peoples reactions!!
I work with a lot of differnt kids (not foster) so I always have kids with me weekends, but how do you explain that kids are foster without saying that in front of the kid? The FS I had didnt like for me to say he was foster or that he was my son... so I just told people he was "my kid" which seemed to work, but then there had to be those people that blurted out.. " oh so you got a foster child" and the nosy questions!!!!!
