I have experienced this myself in the course of my relationship with my daughter. She has cut me off from herself and her family 3 times in the course of 10 years. Each time she starts communicating again, it has been progressively harder to "trust" that she will not hurt me again. I know that feeling of "how long will this last THIS time"... I have made the decision to be open to her for however long she wants me as a part of her life. But that is a decision we each need to make for ourselves.
