I don't know if you have it in your area, but we have "hot line" houses here. Maybe that could be something you can do, so you can keep helping children.
A hot line house is a home that can be called during non office hours. They take in a child until the office opens again, and can find a long term foster home for them. So you may get called at night, or the weekends. These are kids they have to pull from homes right away. (ie. found in a drug raid or were in the emergency room)
I know someone who does hotline, and she says she has been called at 3 AM to take a child!
