If the adoption is finalized, how could this be true? I would call if it puts your mind at ease
I would suspect if she said it was more of a deflection. Maybe someone was asking her about the adoption and she wasn't comfortable talking about it. More of a quick way to end the conversation ... I wouldn't worry too much.
