My sister had a blood clot when 8 months pregnant. They had her on Heparin, another blood thinner. It worked fairly well for her. She developed 2nd blood clot16 years later and it was discovered that she has a blood clotting disorder. She is now on warfarin.
So if warfarin/coumadin is so dangerous, there are other, safer thinners. It should really be looked into.
