Juvenile diabetes
Does anyone have foster children with type 1 diabetes? We are just getting our oldest son (15) on the pump for his diabetes. WOW did I underestimate this disease-when they first asked us to take the kids with a "by the way, he has diabetes". But I vowed then and there to take on the challenge of learning the in's and out's of his condition. I can only imagine what it must feel like for our son- an almost 16 year old foster child on the verge of adoption topped off with constant blood sugar readings, carb counting, and insulin.
Any words of wisdom for us as we embark on new chapters both with the pump and in our adoption? Thanks!
