How did you feel when you found out?
Did you think that you were nothing?
Did you want to scream and shout?
What was it that you were thinking?
Did you think I didn’t love you?
Did you ask why I gave you away?
I just want to know what you went through,
and I wish you would say what you want to say.
I realize you have built a wall
to keep from getting hurt again.
It’s not that I blame you at all.
I understand the reluctance for trust to begin.
I think you want to destroy your wall,
and want to believe I really do love you.
I’m trying hard to get that wall to fall,
but I really don’t know what I can do.
No one hates me more than I do,
so forgiving myself is impossible,
but forgiveness is what I ask of you.
Maybe together we can both become whole.
