I also bought some ornaments in Russia and Delaney put them on the tree and I bought a snow globe with St. Basils inside, she loves it. She picks it up and says it's snowing in Russia. This is just our second Christmas and she was just 22 months last year, but this year I am going to try out this recipe courtesy of Jeana, (kizibits), Alivia's Mom ~
Sirniki (Individual Fried Cheesecakes)
1 pound Friendship Farmer's Cheese
2 large egg yolks
1 ½ tbsp sour cream
1/3 c. flour
2 tbsp. uncooked cream of wheat (don't use instant!!!!)
4 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp vanilla flavoring
¼ tsp salt
4 tbsp unsalted butter
Sour cream
Your favorite fruit preserves
Press farmer's cheese through a fine sieve. Mix in a large bowl with
beaten egg yolks, sour cream, flour, cream of wheat, sugar and salt.
Cover and refrigerate overnight.
The next morning, make 12 round, flat patties out of mixture. Dust
lightly on both sides with flour. Melt butter in large non-stick
frying pan over medium heat. Fry patties until golden brown on both
sides.
Serve hot with sour cream and preserves.
(I've also seen recipes where they add raisins or finely chopped
nuts to the mixture.)
