My husband is in the process of trying to adopt our son, our case is a little different than yours, my son's biological father is contesting even though he has not seen him in 2 and a half years.
But we just had a homestudy done about 2 weeks ago and the lady that did our homestudy came to our condo and asked my husband most of the question's, since he is the one adopting. She asked thing's like what kind of relationship my husband and my son have, what kind of relationship my husband and I have, and what our reason for the adoption is and then asked my son some question's like who he feels his dad is and if he knows who his bio father is and what he remembers of him, also what kinds of things my son likes to do and what kinds of things we do as a family. And then she went up to my son's room to see what his room looked like. And you having an apt. should have nothing to do with it, they are just there to see what kind of envioronment you provide for your children and what kind of relationship your family has together. My son's room was not perfect when we had our homestudy done, he had toys out and his bed was not made. But those are normal things they just don't want to see a child's room that they can tell does not get cleaned. I have 2 children and there is no way I can keep my house totally clean 24 hrs a day. Well I know this is long so if you have any more questions email me at
