step parent adoption, bio father wants visitation

My husband adopted our two oldest children 6 years ago. The bio father was serving a jail term and was notified and given the appropriate time to respond. He did not respond and the judge here approved the adoption and everything was done. Now, when the children are 12 and 14 their bio father wants to have a relationship with the children and has hired an attorney to have visitation rights with them. My former husband left when the children were 19 months old and 5 weeks old and has had no contact with them until Aug. of 02 when I saw him at our fair and asked if they wanted to meet him. Our daughter, 14, did want to meet him and that began the letters and phone calls and gifts. I am wondering if there is any legal leg for him to stand on to obtain visitation rights. My current (the adoptive parent) husband is on their birth certificates, it has been 6 years since it was final and it says on our adoption papers that my husband and i are in all respects, the parents of these children. Is my family safe?
