I'm 48 and we have a 6 year old and a 2 year old..suddenly retirement seems VERY far away.
Funny story-DH was home with our 2 year old a couple days ago waiting for an insurance adjuster to come look at our roof and house for hail damage. He got out of the car and said "Well how lucky for you--you get to spend the day with grandpa".

DH was flabbergasted so the guy who was going to do the work let the adjuster know the little boy was DH's son.
The same thing happened to me when 4 years ago when shopping at Tarjay with our now 6 year old-the clerk asked him if he was having a fun time shopping with grandma today. OK, so I probably looked a tad bedraggled because I was sleep deprived. My response was..well I don't know how old you were when you had your children and you may be a grandma--but not me.
But I have to admit--although I am tired at the end of the day--my kids keep me young, give me an excuse to act like a fool in public any time I want and I can now tell people I have earned my wrinkles
