I have seen similar threads to this one so I know others are impatient as well
It took forever for my new state to certify me - it was ridiculous considering they've had ALL of my paperwork for 8 months. The only thing they had to do was write my homestudy and it turns out they got my homestudy from my old state and basically just rewrote it. Yeah seriously.
Anyway - as of Thursday I'm certified.
I said I would take a girl of ANY age and a boy that is younger than 8 (younger than my son)... I said I preferred a sibling group. They asked if I would take a pregnant teen and I said yes. They asked if I would take any race and I said yes.
I asked them how long before I have a placement - I realize they can't predict those things but an average time frame would be nice.
My answer was "it shouldn't be too long."
I bought a new bedset for the "girls" room and my son's room already had new bedding for the extra bed. I'm getting another dresser today just in case we need one and cleaning up the rooms.
I just wish I had SOME idea on how long. I know that it won't be too long because I'm so open to ages but "too long" doesn't tell me much. "too long" to me means a week or two. "too long" to them could mean 5 months.
I'm planning some trips in April - which the foster children will join us on - but I need to know if they will be here or not so I can plan accordingly. This is annoying.
(P.S. When my son was placed I was picky on the age range and they told me I might be waiting 6 months for a child that would be a fit. I was okay with that. He was placed 3 weeks later. I guess I just assume that this placement will be so much quicker since I'm not pick on the age.)
