If it's restaurants and Russian food, Manhattan's lower east side is wonderful! There are several fantastic, inexpensive places to eat, and some of the local churches have kitchens where the members make piroghies (sp?) that you can buy on Saturday night -- so you have your special Sunday brunch ready to cook up. Oh my! I recall going to a little hole in the wall on a sultry summer evening, and the opener was a cold cherry soup -- one of the most scrumptious dishes I've ever had. Lovely! (Now, if I only had the recipe....)
