My FD's biomom used heroine and methadone when she was carrying FD. FD has had learning disabilities and processing disorders, anxiety and ADHD. She is 15 yo and came to live with me 2 years ago, when she had mostly Ds and Fs. She is now on the honor roll, with a 3.2 gpa, but the learning disabilities really effect her memory and ability to process things, such as math.

She got very little educational support at home. I think that she would have done better at school if she would have had more educational support and early intervention when she was little. Since you're thinking of a baby, make sure to get as much intervention as soon as possible. That can minimize some of the trauma, if there is any.
