IMO, this is the perfect age!!!
My daughter was 10 when she moved in almost 6 months ago, and had her 11th birthday with us.
A few years down the road, ONLY considering my daughter, she'd have been quite set in her ways and not as accepting to parents "ruling her"...when she was so used to being the one who "ruled herself".
