We have lots of love to give - that's what drives us (Fp's) to start with. These children have done nothing but been born to people not able to parent. They need all the love and guidence available to them ~ I don't protect my heart. I love them all. I am concerned for them when they go - either for ru or for adoption - and I know they have had a time of love, trust, stability, and giving. We were able to give them that for the time here - either short or long - A safe place. A loving place. I do what I can, while I can. The rest is in God's hands. He knows when a child needs us.
I can't explain other than that. You know in your head that this child you have been entrusted with is only there for a term - like a niece or nephew coming for an extended visit. When it's time to let them go - it's time.
BTW - with the permanancy laws - no child should be with you for over 2 years without steps being taken for the child to remain for as long as you want them to be. You may like the freedom that foster only allows you - I know I do. We often take breaks between our placements. Sometimes for several months - fostering can definately be stressful and emotionally draining - and adoption extends that (IMO).
Congratulations and welcome to the roller coasters!! We need you.
