My husband and I are in our late 30's and have always wanted a child but never could have one and have been talking about adoption for a few years but we can not afford the high fees so we decided to go with the state because we want a child between the ages of 4 and 8 just getting started. We went to one class it was a really good one but because of low attendance they were able to cancel them our social worker gave us a packet with a bunch of “ what if” questions that are kind of hard. Some true and false questions that are easy. The other questions were problem solving ones. He said that we have to write our life story, and have a physical and do some paper work on our finances and when I get everything done to give him a call. And if he has time, he might call us back around January. I think that our one class was a good one but now we have been told that we must wait until January to see if they will have a bigger class. Today my sister called and said that on the front door of the tax office they had a sign saying that there are a number of children in foster care needing adoption, and here we all sit until January it makes me mad. One lady is a widow who is in her 50's who was at the class and wants to foster and has a house with 7 bedrooms and she has to wait till January too! We are almost finished with all the paper work and questions it just looks as if we are in for a long wait in Mississippi.
