Lightbulb Remember to check with your state for possible adoption tax benefits!

We completed our son's re-adoption last month, and, out of curiosity, I e-mailed our state's tax office (Maryland) to inquire about possible credits/deductions at the state level. Turns out we are entitled to a subtraction of up to $5000 for adoption-related expenses ($6000 for a special needs adoption), and I also received an explanation of how to complete the form to reflect this.

So, you may want to check with your state or tax preparer to see if you are eligible!
