When to Commit to a Birth Mother
One of my concerns about the open adoption process is the time between being chosen by a birth mother and the time the baby is born. If this time is only a month, then if the mother decides to keep her baby I feel it will be easier on my husband and I than if we had waited 8 months for the little baby to be born and kept by the mother.
On the other hand, if I find a birthmother and we get along well but she is very early in her pregnancy, it will be hard to say "you are wonderful but see me in 7 months."
