We used our miles for both trips and got bumped to business class with the baby on our way home - yeah! because they had a bulkhead seat in business class.
Coming back we did go Moscow to London - stayed over and to Boston next day - totally would do the same thing again. It broke up the flights, helped with the time change adjustment and our first flight was delayed 5 hours (winter time) so we would have been in trouble if we didn't stay over!
