My daughter (18months) will drink from the sippy cup but more comes out of her mouth than she swallows. (She watches it cover the front of her shirt.) It makes a huge mess. plus she loves tipping the cup and seeing the "neat" wet patterns and designs she can make where ever she is.
Has anyone else had this problem? She is fine some times but always chooses to make this huge mess, it has become a game for her. She fights me if I tip the cup for her and refuses to drink. I have found the bottle toppers which screw on the top of bottles to be the best, she has to work really hard to get them to spill out and she swallows better because she has to suck to allow the liquid to come out so she does not get a mouthfull to spit out.

Any suggestions I have let her use the sippy cups but the cleanup is ridiculous for me including the carpet shampooer and the constant clothes changing. Will she just quit playing at some point or should I just stick with the bottle topper that work.
