I decided not to buy a seat for my 11 month old - we went business class (one up from economy). And were fine but that's because she was content to be on my lap. Although I might have been more comfortable with her in her own seat, I was so into holding her at that time.
A few in my group got bulkhead seats and the little bassinette. No one brought a car seat.
