Hi BlissMom.... I too, had a driver and translator meet me at the airport. I never took a cab anywhere. I traveled alone both trips, and at least had a trasnlator with me. We did take the subway, as she said that I MUST SEE UNDERGROUND. It was amazing for sure.... Every 'stop' had a different motif/theme, and it was sooooo deep Underground, which was alittle eiry. I was soooooo busy during my trips, that basically, I only had a total of 3 days (18 days in country with both trips), that was actually free time. DD's orphanage was an almost 4 hour car ride ONE WAY.... so basically, we left at 7AM, and I returned to the hotel around 9PM each night!!!
I was (along with others that I got to know through our agency), that you SHOULD NEVER TAKE a taxi from the Airport.... Even my translator said it.... Alot of the taxi's at the airport are maffia owned, and not on the straight and narrow.... No chances here.... I always felt comfortable, as I got to know the driver and translator very well.. I never felt uncomfortable or scared.
Blessings...........
